    Biography

    Tyler Schmeckpeper is a candidate in the Master of Translational Medicine program at UC Berkeley and UCSF. Graduating with an Honors B.S. in Bioengineering at Oregon State, he was heavily involved both on and off campus with student groups, biomedical research, and startups. During his undergraduate, Tyler served as a senator with the Associated Students of OSU, Chair of Business Partnerships for the OSU Alumni Association, Student Ambassador for undergraduate research, intern at the OSU Business Accelerator, secretary of the OSU Biosciences Club, and intern at the Willamette Angel Conference. His involvement at Berkeley and UCSF includes mentoring undergraduate students in bioengineering and serving as an intern in the Catalyst Awards Program, which provides funding and consulting to medical research based on commercial viability. Tyler is passionate about healthcare and business development and one day hopes to start a biotech company focused on positively impacting the healthcare industry.

    Now at UCSF, he is a member of the Sarwal Lab working on the development of a non-invasive assay device for early detection of acute rejection in kidney transplant patients.
