S. Ariane Christie, M.D. is general surgery resident at the University of California, San Francisco with clinical interests in trauma and acute care surgery. She graduated summa cum laude from Hendrix College with a B.A. in philosophy and was the recipient of a Thomas J. Watson Fellowship in 2007. She received an M.D. with AOA distinction from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and went on to pursue general surgical residency training at the University of California, San Francisco. During her research years, she worked with the Center for Global Surgical Studies, as well as at the Cohen Lab with a focus on utilizing adaptive modeling to translate complex, high-level data to dynamic clinical decision support in critically injured patients in diverse settings. Her research interests focus on the validation of methods for implementing sustainable surgical and trauma systems to strengthen care in diverse and low-income settings.
