    Research Narrative

    Dr. Callcut has a broad health services research and data science portfolio focused on clinical outcomes research in Trauma and Critical Care and is an investigator in ongoing multicenter clinical trials examining resuscitation outcomes. Dr. Callcut has published numerous articles on the impact of regulatory issues in surgery, health care delivery, artificial intelligence/machine learning, advanced statistical techniques, cost-effectiveness, and the development of screening algorithms for clinical care. 


    Dr. Callcut also serves on the executive leadership team of the UCAF Center for Digital Health Innovation (CDHI) as both the Director of Data Science and Program Director of the SmarterHealth Artificial Intelligence Initiative. In these capacities, she leads a multi-disciplinary team working at the intersection of artificial intelligence to drive change in the delivery of healthcare for both patients and providers. Her team has developed and licensed multiple commercial applications of artificial intelligence deployed in the clinical domain. 


    Dr. Callcut is a also a member of the Institute of Computational Health Sciences and UCSF Innovation Ventures. Her research also includes directing a NIH and DOD funded research lab in the Department of Surgery focused on integration of biomedical big data and surgical data science into critical care for improved clinical decision support.
