Dr. Ian S. Soriano, MD is Associate Professor of Surgery and Director of Robotic Surgery, UCSF Department of Surgery. He is also Surgeon Champion, ACS-NSQIP at the UCSF Helen Diller Medical Center at Parnassus Heights. His clinical specialties include general, gastrointestinal and bariatric surgery.

Dr. Soriano completed a combined undergrad and medical school program at the University of the Philippines. He trained in general surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York and Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia followed by a fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Florida. Prior to joining UCSF, he was Chief of Gastrointestinal Surgery and Surgeon Champion of ACS-NSQIP at Pennsylvania Hospital, as well as Associate Professor of Clinical Surgery at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania Health System.

He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and was awarded Honorary Fellow of both the Philippine College of Surgeons and Philippine Association of Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Surgeons. He is on the editorial board of SOARD and serves on numerous committees of SAGES, ASMBS & AHS.
