Biography
Dr. Shareef Syed is an Assistant Professor of Surgery within the Division of Transplant Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco.
He also serves as the division’s educational lead to general surgery residents, participates in enhancing the campus surgical education curriculum and was recently accepted in to the upcoming Teaching Scholars Program cohort. Dr. Syed was recently awarded the Faculty Teaching Award by UCSF’s PGY1 General Surgery Residents in recognition for the quality of his teaching and contributions to their education. In addition to his clinical and surgical responsibilities, his current research interests include studying renal allograft rejection, the preservation of donor livers and the intersection of global health and education vis-à-vis partnering with a Costa Rican transplant center.
He is a member of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons, Royal College of Surgeons and The Transplantation Society.
